Smyths' involvement would definitely increase some exposure & interest. But major networks aren't gonna suddenly be picking up games...the only game game televised is AC Finals...and we're ALL a long way from that sill. Wade. I wasn't saying CBC or CTV would show games live. But I am sure the local Maritime affiliates will be there covering and reporting on games. If Ryan Smyth is there, then that local Network coverage potentially goes National. No. Ryan Smyth playing in the Allan Cup isn't National news. It's barely Edmonton news.

Being a model franchise won't bring Ryan Smyth back. Stony wins the series hands down if he plays. So yeah In a way it's a black eye to win that way. Management didn't hit Smyth but Sheen represents them. Agree it would be better if Stony moves forward. Stony wins the series "hands down" with Smyth? No. They had him last year and it didn't change the outcome.

MAYBE STONY DOESNT WIN HANDS DOWN, BUT I LIKE THEIR ODDS A LOT BETTER W SMYTH IN IT! For sure. Sometime...top players get injured and sometimes...these injuries result from violent hits, cheap hits, slashes, hits from behind, cross-checks, slew foots and every other greasy thing thats ever happened in a hockey game. The Army has dealt with injuries to top players, many times over the years. All teams do. I'm not condoning anything...just pointing out how stupid it is to point the finger and act like this situation is unique from many others. It really isn't. Other than the fact it's got the medias' attention. If The Army wins this series...they won't be apologizing for it.

5-1. The Army Controlled the entire game, largely on the strength of 10 PP opportunities.
Gens' couldn't quite break Stonyburgh completely down until about half way through the night.
Smyth was NOT in the line-up.
If he's gonna make a comeback...it'll be a dramatic boost to his teammates tomorrow night, facing elimination.

GREAT NEWS RYAN IS BACK! FOR HIS SAKE. I GUESS I FORGIVE THE BIG BAD GENERALS NOW!! ALL EXCEPT THE KISSER!!! Nah, here is how this is gonna go.... For the duration of this season...it's been decided The Army shall now be reffered to as "The Unforgiven". They will be cloaked in the dead black of night. They have been called out, ran down, accused, sentenced and shamed....but...they have responded. Tonight...they went into Stonyburgh and watched 94...rise from the dead...and "unimaginably" make a heroic & holy return to the rink. And then....The Unforgiven laid a historic hellfire upon Stonyburgh. 10-3 Final. The Unforgiven are coming to New Brunswick.

Did someone forget to tell the CHL that the BC teams withdrew from Allan Cup contention?
This is copy and pasted from the front page of the league website Monday morning:
LACOMBE WINS FINAL Lacombe wins the Alberta "AAA" Final and will represent the Chinook Hockey League and Alberta in The MacKenzie Cup vs B.C..

Sometimes, I circle through the 60 some pages of this chat forum and use it as a memory map. It’s easy to get lost amidst all the crazy stuff that happened during The Army’s undeniable 20 year siege of SR AAA hockey.
This thread was mostly a very heated discussion about the most famous collision in the history of Allan Cup.
But there was also an Alberta SR AAA Championship handed out that year.
I haven’t seen Sheener in a few years. Ryan Smyth vanished the following summer, moving to Nashville.
The Army ended up losing in the AC Final a little less than 2 months after “the hit”.
Looking back…like I said all along…it was absolutely a suspendable hit. Hockey Canada…trying to pretend they ever gave a damn about SR AAA hockey…influenced the suspension and it was bumped to 16 games. One of the longest in SR AAA history for an illegal body check.
It was bad publicity. It was bloodshed. It was unfortunate and maybe even devastating for the brand.
But it was also passionate. Wild. And as old school as the sting of the principal’s whip in the palm of your hand.
Mannn…I gotta write a book….
