I just want to see if I have this right, the 3 teams from the East who are already in the Allan Cup event aren't League Champions and only the Newfiundland Club made it to their finals. Now I know I have only been on this issue for about 15 years but shouldn't Sr Council be able to figure this out, I know that was a rhetorical question by the way. The event is always good in spite of Sr Council and the respect given to the founding level of Hockey in the former Commonwealth. Hope it's a great event.

regards Don Robertson This what still seems strange about the Allan Cup, based on playoffs in Newfoundland they will send their 3rd best team to the AC. That said because NFLD are smart and use the rules they bring top players in their league because other teams register as AA team teams. ( Allan Cup Hockey in Ontario ) find this practice as outside the spirit of the Allan Cup and its tradition. Doesn't make us better but makes us different. Cheers Don Robertson

With great respect Don..Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador restricts the Central west hockey league to 2 imports. How many can your Real McCoy's sign in a single season?
But when we go, we bring a full team not unlike 2015 when your McCoy's showed up with half a team and the SEPT flew half a team in for the playoffs...that's not fair to the fans that pay to watch and the host teams committee for there time they put in to put this event off.

100+% AGREE IVE ALWAYS CHEERED FOR THE UNDERDOG, BUT HAVE A HARD TIME CHEERING AGAINST THE ONLY 2 REAL "TEAMS" IN THE ALLAN CUP. THIS YEAR ITS BOTH "THE GENERALS". HOW IS THE SEPT MANITOBA REP ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE NFLD SQUAD? A WHOLE PROVINCE TO PICK FROM? HARD TO WHINE ABOUT IT ALL THOUGH WHEN MORE OFTEN THAN NOT ONE OF THE "REAL TEAMS" WIN IT ALL! I COULD LOOK BUT HOW OFTEN OUT OF SAY THE LAST 2O YEARS HAS A LEAGUE TEAM WON IT ALL?

IT SHOULD BE EASY TO PLAN A FULL TEAM TRIP WHEN YOU HAVE A FULL YEAR TO PLAN IT. NOT EXCUSING MANITOBA OR ACH LACK OF PLAYERS THOUGH.

I believe your 2 imports is a self imposed League rule but I could be wrong, please correct me if that's all you can/do take to the Allan Cup because that's kinda the point. You kind of support my point when point out the fact we didn't bring a full lineup, we don't have 10 affialte players like Newfoundland to prop up our team. The so called half team you mentioned if memory serves me correctly got beat out 2-1 by the host in a pretty good game which I think the fans got their money's worth and the host committee should have been happy we where 2 players short of a full team. The Import rule is a rule forced on by HNL.

NL teams can add 10 guys from 4 Other teams in their league...THAT IS ABSURD.
only about 1/3 of the guys who show up at the AC actually played for that team in a given season. No other leagues have that luxury. The 2 import rule is for your league play only and is self imposed, and means nothing in inter-branch play.

that is true...but my point is 100% valid
the NL and NB reps have a distinct unfair advantage because of how they manipulate their leagues...

There is a difference between manipulating and Force fed rules that are not of Hockey Canada. The league does not agree with most of what Hockey NL forces upon them. But in order to play for the Herder Championship and Allan Cup we have to play by there made up rules.

Looks like they they are getting afraid of the NL team again this year . Seem like when they do they start brining this shit up ...Don't worry boys the NL squad will take it easy on your guys ..after all guys they could have taken a few more caribou players and that would have threw a wrench into it alright ,ha ha

that is true...but my point is 100% valid the NL and NB reps have a distinct unfair advantage because of how they manipulate their leagues... So blame the leagues that enforce these rules in order for a league to exist and not the team. There is two senior leagues in NB and both leagues abide by different set of rules, in the NESHL a team can only dress four players who played major junior or higher during a game, imagine sending a team to the allan cup filled with only junior A players who never played anything higher and four players who may have played pro? That would make a competitive tournament wouldnt it? In the other NB League, the Roger Lizotte, each team is only allowed two imports which is considered anyone outside of their jurisdiction. In order for the much smaller NB leagues to operate they need all the help they can get when coming to these tournaments in order to compete and not be embarrassed. Im not disagreeing thats its an advantage to pick up so many players, but on the flip side the teams have to because they are handcuffed throughout the season in order for a league to operate.

League rules banning 'imports' during the regular season have nothing to do with Allan Cup competition.
that has nothing to do with Hockey Canada...the only thing that matters is teams in the same league being allowed to declare AAA or AA, which then creates a ridiculous AP situation, where teams can raid their own leagues and put together an AS team...it is absurd.
