As most teams are battling for their playoff lives or are done for the season,PRR are releasing a partial roster. and we wonder why senior hockey is in such a sad state of affairs.

Hey Captain ... as a long time Regals fan and a Powell River Kings season ticket holder I am embarrassed by this situation. It has been discussed many times at Kings games and there are various theories. If a team has not played 'any' games it should not be allowed to compete for the Allan Cup.Also there is now a conflict between the Kings first round playoffs and the Savage Cup.It will be interesting to see how this is sorted out.

Malaspina, thanks for that bit of insight , glad to hear people out that way feel the same . Its to bad but the Regals made a mess of a once very proud organization, there trying to out smart everyone and its only makeing them look so bad . May be there needs to be a game amount played before a certain date to help get rid of this problem and make it a sizable amount . Then there needs to be a date where all rosters and affilites are made public possible the same date as the game total.Good luck to the Kings

I'm not saying it's right or wrong but it is within the rules. The beef might be with BC Hockey and for that you want to talk to Mike Fraser. Certainly they have never broken any rules like others. give the Regals some credit. They have worked very hard to get a league going but unlike the interior and the northeast just can't get teams interested. A trip for them to the closest team would still be expensive, much more so than any other senior team, either AA or AAA. Money and time is reality in senior hockey so I think they should be cut some slack. Let's be proud of our senior teams - all of them - instead of bashing. Cheers and looking forward to the series.

No games played during the season and no league to play in should equal no chance to compete for the Allan. Its a slap in the face to the rest of the teams.

There has always be a scheduling problem when it comes to play-offs because both clubs have always had good teams. Just about every time the Regals have hosted a Coy, Savage, McKenzie or Allan Cup there has been a conflict with scheduling between the two teams but it has always worked out, maybe not to the liking of both teams, but the games have always been played. Regals have always booked the ice time well in advance but it is just a fact of life when you have two teams playing out of the same rink. There will always be a conflict at this time of the year and these games will go one with some time changes. Good luck to both teams. There should be some great hockey action here in Rivercity.

No games played during the season and no league to play in should equal no chance to compete for the Allan. Its a slap in the face to the rest of the teams. Exactly. The last remnants of the Trail Smoke Eaters may not have been quite as strong as their glory years...but...at least the people backing those Smokie' teams had enough dignity and brains to know when to stop wasting thier whips on the decaying corspe of the horse. IMO the Regals should show some respect to the other SR AAA teams who are able to put together something credible... do the right thing and back out until the day comes when there is decent justification for them to return to participation.

Wade the bitterness of your comments must stem from your anger of no gens in the cup.....or just the ignorance you display year after year....." the regals beating a dead horse" are you kidding me.....for years they were the only sembelance of senior hockey in all of bc and kept this thing alive when no else would or could......well before your newbie generals were even on the scene and stony was the class of Alberta...the regals organization has stepped up and hosted cups even when it wasnt there turn to do so on extremely short notice to help out this tournement.....for what this organization has done for senior AAA hockey and what it has tried to develop when no one else would should get them a bye to the cup anyway..things you would know nothing about given your relative infancy in senior AAA......no one would be happier than the regals for a league to play in...some closer competition of any kind..... but given the geographical restrictions of powell river this is extremely difficult thing to do..how many times did your pocket rich gens offer to fly out and give them a game.......your gens and many other teams owe a lot to the regals for there part in that this is even still going on in the west as there were times it did in fact look like a dead horse....they have done all they can to be apart of this and like the other poster added have done no wrong and played by all the rules....if you want rule changes then fine...when they are in place im sure the regals will adhere to those as well....and if theres a strategy involved...well its a team...management and strategy can be just as important as a hot goalie or great shot from the left side....i think it would say a whole lot more about the league if they can play as you say one game a year and walk away with the cup.....which is a possibility....last time they were in loyd for the cup they played six games that year....and won it with almost nothing but home grown local talent.....maybe there just challenging themselves this time.......
p.s if i remember right the gens werent there for that one either

A few things...and Im sure the line of people pissed off or offened is about to get a little longer...but...why stop now? First of all...I don't know whats changed on YOUR counting hand... regalfan...but...by my count the Regals are STILL... 'virtually the only semblance of SR AAA hockey in BC'...(your words not mine). Frankly...thats hardly worth a pinch of snuff...and like I said before...maybe you should take the hint that nobody west of the rocky mountains cares? Truth is...the Regals did some winning when only them & Stony were really operating. Again...your words...not mine. And do you honestly believe the Regals did the Allan Cup a favor or that the Allan Cup owes you guys something? Because thats what is sounds like. Truth is...when there are only a few folks on the dance floor...its not a bar Im going to want to hang out in...but... good for you. I guess the Regals did play a role in keeping the proverbial lights on. None of this really changes the dynamics of the current discussion. I know the rules permit Powell River to play whenever they feel like it & I know thats what they will continue to do. There is nothing I can do to change it, really. But thats not to say I have to like it or I can't be critical about it. I believe its one of many things warranting some hot air...and I guess thats all it is. Whatever. As many others have stated...its a crying shame. Its an embarassment.
