The Flyers actually proposed this last year but Bentley stated to other Chinook League teams that they didn't want anything to do with helping the Flyers get any pre- Allan Cup games last year. It was unclear of who should be hosting the Mac this year so it would have been a perfect year to start this formula. Which apparently Bentley endores but just not "this year". At the Hockey Canada meetings this fall the Hockey AB Senior rep stated that the Mac Cup would be played in both provinces on back to back weekends at the end of March in front of all the reps fom across the country but apparently when he talked to the AB senior teams they said no so he backed out of it. Hockey Canada wanted the 2 provinces to work it out among themselves so in the end BC said the heck with it and let AB have. The formula would be simple 2 games in 1 province 1 weekend and a Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon if necessary in the other province. Both provinces get some revenue and each teams fans see some games to feel more part of it and promote he Senior AAA product.

At the end of the day, this current arrangement still works well. I don't like the suggested changes. No need to repeat the reasons why.
As it is...the Peace Country has had plenty of AAA playoff hockey in the past year and there will be plenty more this spring with the Savage Cup.
What will the Flyers roster look like?

Flyers roster looks ok...have to see at the end of the day if the lack of games together is a factor

Interesting. He hasn't played up to this point but whenever he debuts its going to be a whole new ball game.
He's the most skilled weapon FSJ has ever had.

Kimbi will definately help, will be able to reunite the Stevens/Daniels/Stevens line. FSJ misses the Carter/Brough/Manitowich line but their young line of Fast/Horst/Shipton is no slouch either. Haven't heard if Kip will be joining the Flyers for the Savage & Mac cup yet or not but I see they've signed a few additions like Brash who coached the last few yrs & Kevin Werner? As well as a few more AP's from Dawson- Hogue, Mason & Loncan (not too sure if he'll play after last yrs Allan Cup, 1 game) Looks like Stutzel will move onto the Alexander/Alexander line for the departure of Waberski. Pool in net is always a rock too. Should be good, we'll see what kind of teams come for the Savage as I've heard both teams are struggling to get committment for the weekday games. Tried to get Penticton to bow out but no go & PG wanted a best of 3. Can't blame them, back to back best of 5's on the road would be tough if they were to beat FSJ but I don't see it happening this year.

Its unsettling to look back on the stats from 2010 and see Kimbi never scored a goal in the tournament.
That entire line was so good, Daniels was able to pick and choose who he passed to and it wasn't just limited to his wingers. They were getting D-Men open for quality SOG's as well.
If PG is going to pull off an upset of FSJ, they'll need to go after Daniels with extreme prejudice and I am sure as soon as that happens...its going to set off a chain reaction because the core of the Flyers club are an extremley emotional/volatile type pf person(s) who will react when they see a top player running onto hard times.
I don't think FSJ will really miss Carter/Manitowich all that much. Manny had a quiet tournament for them and Carter has always been hit & miss.
The guys I would be worried about are Kip Noble and Andy Derton. Noble is no longer the dynamic carrier of the puck that he was....however...his shot and his passing are still lethal. If I were a betting man...I would say he will play. He knows what its like on the big stage....he lives for it. He also knows he can still play at this level. He proved it last April.
Derton is a different story altogether. He was an obvious talent boost to the Flyers blueline but I never got the sense he was all that emotionally connected to the moment. Maybe hes the type of guy you dont really miss in the locker room and so you dont really go out of your way to bring him back...abnd then...you lose the big game and look back....thinking: `Dammit....that guy was a ten bell nutjob but we really could have used him out there today.`
Not that I would be speaking from experience or anything.

Flyers are missing Derton and Dicaire on the backend from last year. But Mason and Werner will help alot...there is lots of depth on the backend with 10 D-men available. Chris Stevens has become an elite Senior player and will be a big factor if the Flyers are to advance

Tghe Gens were using forwards as defencemen in FSJ. They struggled to deal with injuries.
Doubtful thats a problem this time around. This group of 'D' is as good as I have ever seen.
Plus, its a double edged sword because we get to keep our top forwards playing as forwards, too.

It looks like Bentley's top 4 D move the puck well

It looks like Bentley's top 4 D move the puck well I would say its closer to 6 defencemen who can move the puck well when they're 100% healthy. But its always a battle to stay healthy. When I look down the long list of injuries this team deals with each winter, its hard believe the teams who do not play as many games are at any disadvantdge. Its more like....six of one or a half dozen of the other: Do you want to have ALL your players...and be a bit rusty because you only played a half dozen games? OR Do you want to have a depleted roster....but lots of GP's? Just sayin.

When you win you feel you played the right amount...when you lose it's easy to second guess that you may have been either to banged up or to rusty! Who do you see as the 2nd scoring line for the Generals in the AB finals?

Impossible to project lines with this team anymore. Sutter doesn't seem to have many (if any) preferred combinations. We rarely see the same line-up 2 games in a row....let alone line combinations.
Cabana is going to get plenty of ice time. I can tell you that much.
