so how can he be playing in Nfld...ahhhhhh...NOT a AAA team
clever
So Donnie is pretty slick..doesn't have to pay Stewart for the year, while he goes East and makes some good money, but can return and play AAA playoffs in Dundas
Nice work

How is he playing with Gander then?

I'm going to preface my speculative answer to the question of the day with a presumptive question: I assume Bill Noseworthy is still running the show, right?

Speculation is..
Stewart has a deal with Dundas. Gets his release to play AA with Gander. He was likely the most talented player in the Allan Cup last season. He's only 28, not long removed from the NHL/AHL/Europe. He'll get flown in, put up in a hotel, make decent money as the Nfld teams draw so well...
Then, he can rejoin the McCoys in Feb for another run at the Cup.
Snider is back from Europe, Mole resigned in net.
Hearing Christie and Smith, amongst others from last year's team may join after the New Year or even before as they're skating again.
Just sayin..put it altogether and in a season when people thought Dundas would have trouble...they may just end up in Clarenville...

Add in the fact Mifsud, Cam Watson and Darryl Smith will be back. They were the McCoys so-called 2nd line. Although they would have been any other teams first line in the Allan Cup with the exception of possibly Clarenville. Missed the first game but hey we're already 2-0 with essentially a Tier 2 Jr A team. Guess the real season will begin in Jan when hopefully the vets come back. Whitby looks good but it seems like Brantford is split up with 3-4 players now in Stoney Creek. And Norwood is rebuilding (or trying to build from scratch). If that is the case, then, hell yeah, maybe the McCoys will be back in the show....AGAIN

This is precisely what I alluded to. Any long time observers knew a bunch of these players would be back later in the season. To figure out which ones, look to see who's jersey #s haven't been issued - Christie and Smith's numbers haven't been given out.
I feel bad for the rookies and younger players making a commitment that will be let go once these guys return. FYI, I personally heard first hand the complaints of this practice a few years back. It's no wonder good new players don't join the team.
I also suspected that Stewart would be back based on Don's comments before someone else spilled the beans.
Congrats to Dundas on last year's accomplishment but a team with 7 ex NHLERS and the rest essentially ex AHL players shouldn't have had a team take them to OT in the finals. You would expect them to win more convincingly and at least to have won their league playoffs.
My guess is a less than full commitment this season will come back to hurt them when it counts.

If Stewart is coming back to Dundas...he would have to be released by Gander before Jan. 25/15. That's the deadline to release a player.
It's entirely possible a gentlemens agreement is in place.
As for Dundas going to Clarenville...well...I don't think a whole bunch of researching or analyzing is required before saying they're an excellent bet...as they've been for 10 years+.

While mlh01 & Dundas1 have suggested it's possible that Dundas could represent in Clarenville this year, that's all they have said. That it is "possible", and of course they are correct.
My own view would be that if this were to happen, that it would be a huge accomplishment indeed.

It's possible that Dundas might be in Clarenville. The only thing they need to do is win the ACH league and then knock off Kenora in the Renwick Cup April 3rd-5th. I guess time will tell.

That's it in a nutshell 3 teams already in and one team doesn't play in a league. They can qualify if they win 2 games if this BS keeps up more teams will be GWAN.

what a signing that is....It's my opinion (which may not mean much ) that Greg Stewart is the best all-around player in senior hockey across the country. It was an absolute joy watching him play for the Real McCoys last year, thank you Don for making that happen What?! He might have made top 5 on his team last season, lol.
