Went to my 3rd McCoys game this year. Great crowd; great atmosphere. Was impressed. Too bad the rest of the year was not this way. Small benches and small crowds have been the norm. Tonight was nice to see. If Dundas could ice teams like this in the regular season I'd go to more games.
Was extremely impressed with the new additions to the team. Adam Henrich, 2nd round pick of Tampa Bay Lightning, is a force out there. Sat in the corner near an OHA official. Not sure who he was but he mentioned that the line of Matt Foy, Brad Bonello and Henrich would rival any line in the AHL. All are still in early 30s and can fly. Henrich is 6' 4", 235 lbs; Foy 6' 2", 225 lbs. All we could say was "wow". They were fun to watch.
Add in the first line of Ben Skinner (yes he is Jeff Skinner's brother), Cam Watson and Shawn Snider and Dundas suddenly looks very deep. Matt Stajan's brother or cousin Thomas plus Todd Harvey's brother Kevin add even more depth.
Lastly addition of ex-NHLer Jeff MacMillan strengthens the defence.
The question is are these additions enough to beat Stoney Creek.
I've never seen the Ontario league so strong (at least in the modern era) as any of the 4 teams left could easily win the Allan Cup national championship. But the elephant in the room is who will travel with the winning team to New Brunswick? That has plagued Ontario for the last 10 years- our best players stay home.

I've noticed watchimg the Generals play they seem to "target" players from the opposite team during a game. Prpic comes to mind here. Dundas can beat them if they don't rise to take the bait

Always excuses from the Ontario teams unless they host and players don't have to travel. Happens every year. Stoney creek was by far the weakest team in last years allan cup.

There is a difference between excuses and the truth. Excuses from the Ontario teams would be coming up with reasons they lost with a full squad. But the reality of the last 10 years is that the Ontario teams have all been much stronger than the teams that they end up icing in the Allan Cup. And my Dundas Real McCoys are the biggest culprit admittedly. Year after year they dominated Ontario but large numbers of their better players did not make the trek to the Allan Cup. Very frustrating. I would bet my mortgage that if whomever wins Ontario ends up bringing a full team they will give South Prairie and Rosetown (the likely two best teams in the West) a run for their money in the Cup tournament. Stoney Creek last year, and Dundas the year before, honestly only brought about 60% of their squads. Not excuses just reality jing jang.

In the nshl players have to play 6 games in order to play in the playoffs Yup, individual leagues are free to add restrictive rules if they choose. It's when they choose to have less restrictive rules that adversely effect play beyond their league i.e. Allan Cup play, that rightly bothers many other people.

If Henrich is such a great signing, was there a reason he wasn't in the lineup last night? It's good to sign these players but if they're not there....

I heard when Adam Henrich found out you were going to Whitby he just decided to sit that game out. According to my Dundas friends it was not much different than Stephens & Prpic not showing up for their last 2 games of the year. They also mentioned something about the number one guy Leggat who perhaps was busy doing another grand Expositor interview.
