hey Wade as far as AA teams not respecting the Allan Cup.What are you talking about. The NFLD league is now a AA league where the Herder cup winner is declared AAA to compete. If you know so much about Ontario the best senior teams are playing in outlaw AA leagues because of Hockey Canada.Teams like Stratford,Tillsonburg,Alvinston,Tilbury are full of ex pro players. These pro players are mid 20 to early 30yrs not like the AAA league who brings in players 35-50yrs. Hell Minto 81s would of won the Allan Cup last year if allowed to compete.AAA hockey is dead period.Time for a change and create a tournament similiar to softball where a true national champion is declared. I’m not referring to Ontario AA teams in “outlaw leagues”. Those teams & leagues have been around for over 10 years or more. If they’d ever had any interest in competing for Allan Cups they’d have done so long ago. No. I’m talking about ANYONE who could possibly pursue an Allan Cup under the current criteria (non existent) And I’m the last person on earth who needs to be told Hockey Canada fucked up Allan Cup. I’m the person who predicted this was going to happen 10+ years ago while everyone else wanted to read about rumours of Johnny Rocketstick getting paid $1000 to play some hockey for the Saskatchewan SealSkins. But there was lots wrong with Allan Cup and SR AAA. Some of it was fixable and some of it …some very important parts of it…boys…I’m telling ya…some of it was not and still is NOT FIXABLE. And FWIW… I could care less about who’s got a hotshot team in Ontario’s outlaw league right now. The Army was standing against all comers for 20+ years. You guys all had your shot at us and for the most part…everyone of em got their asses handed to them. Some more than others haha

Hey Sprintcars Great discussion but one that cannot be proven until next spring. I respectfully disagree with the talent level of the Outlaw leagues. Is it higher calibre for AA- yes. Is it even near the level of the AAA ACH - absolutely not. There are a handful of local Dundas players who travel down to Southwestern Ontario to play in the Outlaw league. I can 100% tell you that NONE of them could be on the ice with the Real McCoys. It's a hard NO. They all struggled even at the Junior C level. I know the players. The McCoys are familar and honestly, and respectfully, none of them can even hope for a tryout with an ACH team. As for the OHL sanctioned Ontario Elite Hockey League that Minto plays in. I would say its not even one step up from the outlaw league. The calibre is so low that whomever wins the AA league will be allowed to pickup FIVE players from other teams Time will tell but in the games I have seen, I do not think any of the AA teams can compete with the ACH - even with 5 ringers - Minto included. Will be very interesting when the two champions play next year. Again time will tell.

Getting back on topic: I haven't pushed for any info from my sources concerning new Ontario teams. Last I heard the ACH was potentially looking at Niagara, Woodstock and even returning to the Brampton/Mississauga area. Its now mid summer - anyone have any news concerning teams declaring AAA in any area of the country? I tried asking on the Saskatchewan Senior forum if anyone was possibly going for it and that thread turned into a total joke.
There have been quite a few teams in Michigan, New York, and Massachusetts that have started up in the last two seasons. A few of the teams are talking about the possibility of the United States National Senior Championship returning for 2025. With the shape senior has been in the US that is a pretty bold statement. Hopefully, if people put their minds to it senior could make somewhat of a comeback if there is enough of a commitment.
I've said it before that senior hockey has been dying a slow death since Hockey Night in Canada when to being broadcast over television and not just radio back in the 1950's. Senior hockey has always been the local team with good quality hockey. Small to medium sized communities are the key to senior hockey surviving and hopefully flourishing.
