Sutter's last stop in the NHL was in Chicago. He was a complete douche there, and that's when he threatened to fight one of his own players, Tyler Arnason, in a bar in Nashville. He's always been prickly, as a player and a coach, but he crossed the line from prickly to classless long ago. The NHL game obviously passed him by as his performance with the Hawks proves, and reading about him constantly being the centre of attention for the wrong reasons in Sr hockey doesn't surprise me at all. He was despised by his players in Chi, and that's a fact. Fans didn't care for him much either. I guess the car is stuck in the ditch, and everyone has to push it out again...yawn. Really? Your going to bring up the bottom end of his NHL coaching career and tell us this is why he is a 'douche'? The last 2 teams he coached in CHI were terrible. It was only 8 years ago and yet almost NOBODY from those clubs is still in the league. They were dysfunctional on all levels. (coaching included). Obviously he played a part on that pile up. I am not here to tell you Sutter was the greatest NHL Coach to ever live and I am not here to tell you he did an awesome job in his one year as a JR coach either. And to be honest...I could nit pick what he does as a SR coach, too! There are things I like and things I don't like about his tactics. At the end of the day...he is...NOW...volunteering his time to take part in something he is passionate about. Just like anyone else. He conducted his entire hockey career around hellfire and brimstone. Scotty Bowman...he is not. I admit this. Suttsy' is a truly tough son-of-a-gun who comes as advertised. He is just a hard working farm boy with flaws and fine points like everyone else. I stand by him. Not because he won a Jack Adams Award. But because he volunteers his time to be here with us and be a passionate part of something he believes in. To me, thats 'salt of the earth' stuff right there. Hey...he made some enemies. No doubt. Tyler Arnason made a few of his own...half-assed floater that he was. I miss the days when coaches like Sutter would terrify players like Arnason. I remember all the hoopla around the Generals 2009 AC title. A LOT of people were tossing Brian Sutter's name into the hat for the Oilers (then) open coaching job. I said at the time...Brian Sutter's approach to coaching was out-dated by NHL standards. Todays NHL Coach has got to be a MASTER PUSSY FOOTER. Sutter...is not this. I PROUDLY admit it.

NO argument about Arnafat being a world class floater, but think it speaks to Sutter's character that he actually had the poor judgement to grab and physically threaten a player....in a public establishment, no less.
I didn't bring up Chi to paint him as a bad Sr coach, but more to illustrate his many flaws...some of strategy, some of character. His performance, overall in Chi, left me with no element of shock or surprise when I heard about his 'handshake-gate' in Sr hockey. let's just say that.

Thing is, pretty much anyone who was/is in the professional game for as long as Sutter was will build a pile of dirt up over time. Sutters' shelf life as an NHL coach was longer than most. He did it his own way and at times he was wrong. When you look at the big picture, he has accomplished a helluva lot and done awesome things all over the hockey community, giving back as much as he ever took and more. Sylvan Summer Hockey School, The Sutter Fund, Alberta Beef Council, Hospitals Lottery and on and on from there... He's got a lot more friends than enemies. Then again, this is the internet, where everyone's integrity is only as safe as the next time someone hits 'send'.

leave sutter alone for christ sake, like wade said " where everyone's integrity is only as safe as the next time someone hits 'send' " is correct and there probably isnt one of us that can 'hold a candle"..."carry his skates"..whatever cleche you want to come up with toward this man...NONE of us!!
Posavad has been associated with Mr Sutter in the past and was looking forward to being reaccquainted this spring in Kenora.
Let it go men...let it go!! Enjoy the Allan cup whether your there or not.

My Friend Curtis; Your advice to others to "let it go men" is a little hypocritical. At 12:00 noon, just ten minutes earlier you were on the Ontario side of this forum beating your keypad in a critical fashion about something you've already had plenty to say about previously. Curtis, our series is OVER. You have had plenty to ramble about during the series, which I assumed perhaps was some sort of good natured attempt to bait the opposition or to motivate your own team or something like that. I've got some thoughts myself, both complementary and others not so much. As for the not so complimentary, I just thought , hey the series is OVER.
As for Coach Sutter, if I wish to express criticism regarding some of his actions, I will, and I did. I see nothing in your post that would lead me to have any second thoughts about doing it.
Any way, as you know I have personally expressed my excitement and sincere congratulations to you on your teams success earlier in this years playoffs, and I would like to do that again now that the final series is over. I am sure you are proud of what your team achieved this year, and you surely should be.
Regards, Munzie

For me, I'll just follow the games when i get the chance, its back to the grind now, this hockey takes a hell of a lot of your time up when your in the middle of running a team. Cheers, Curtis
