Obviously couldnt get it done this year. ICE TIME has been and continues to be the biggest problem. There is an owner in place who wants a franchise, bu the City, until only recently, wasn't willing to play ball.
it will be interesting to see if an agreement ca be reached. we all know there is only one suitable rink in the city for this brand of hockey, and it has numerous tenants already. Could be a tough go..

The city has finally figured out it needs another team in Shade St...their game-day income from Hornets games dwarfed what they make form the Hawks.
Be interesting to see where Cam Watson ends up playing, if this thing ever gets off the ground.

hey Jim The city would only make income from the ice rental. The concessions are no longer run by the city as they have tendered that out to a private company. As far as the ice rental goes, the ice is already rented out so the city wouldn't lose on that either. They just juggle the rentals from one group to another. I wish the current group good luck at bringing the Hornets back. Would love to see another Allan Cup back in the city

Wouldn't Dundas have to release him for him to be able to go somewhere else?

No, everyone is a free agent at the end of the season. Cam was a great Winter Hawks captain. Nathan Gillies is also I guy who might play out of here. Jim, ice time isn't at Galt Arena. Sorry, OHA is keeping mum until Brent talks to me next month. I'll link the story when I get it.

I think you're wrong about everyone being a free agent at the end of the season, unless this is new. Maybe someone in the know can shed some light on this...

Your right drm1, teams hold the rights to a player until January 10 of the following season. A player would have to wait to sign with another club if he chose not to sign with the team he played with prior to. He could also ask for a release which the team may grant or the team may ask for compensation before releasing the player. The team that owns the rights also can "waste' a card at the january deadline by submitting that players card so that player cant go anywhere, but for just that year. After the season is done that player would be a free agent. I cant see any team holding players back after working so hard at getting more teams to join the league.

The way Curtis has nicely laid it out,...... that's also the way I have always understood it to be.
