There is an Invermere (3ish hours from Calgary) senior team page on Facebook and has already begun recruiting players and sponsors. So I wouldn’t count them out.
Carstairs has done the same online with player announcements, etc.
Will be exciting to see CHL back.

Well, it’s summer and usually we start to chat about this.
So who’s got any lines on what’s happening next season?
There’s been meetings about reviving the Chinook league out west, with the two Eagles, Carstairs, Brooks and a team from the Interior BC.
That’s all the AAA news I’ve got going on.
AA need, the Ranchland debacle seems to be dragging on, nothing new other than what’s been previously mentioned. But it'll be interesting to see what happens.

This just came down the pipe from the Ranchland Hockey League Facebook page -
“There is no easy way to make this announcement. The Ranchland Hockey League and Innisfail Eagles have been suspended by Hockey Alberta from further operation or play, until further notice. There be no representation from the Ranchland Hockey League for the upcoming weekend in Fort Saskatchewan.
The league Board of Directors will continue to work hard for everyone and will have a resolution before the start of 2022-2023 season. The league would like to thank all the players, volunteers, sponsors and officials for all your amazing hard work over this past season
If you have questions please visit our league website for contact information or reach out to your team manager.”
One of the top comments below as well:
"The RHL's choice not to include the Innisfail Eagles in the league playoff process is a violation of the Appeal's Committee decision and a violation of the Hockey Alberta by-laws".
"As a result, the RHL is hereby suspended from all operations as a sanctioned Senior Hockey League of Hockey Alberta. All RHL teams are ineligible to play any further games this season, including the participation at Hockey Alberta Provincial Championships".
This would seem to bring to an end the month's long drama surrounding the Ranchland and the Innisfail Eagles.
After announcing this decision, Hockey Alberta then looked to find a team that could take the spot of the Ranchland. They contacted Dewberry (who were finalists in the Saskalta League) but they didn't feel they could ice a complete lineup. Hockey Alberta's next option was to invite both NCHL finalists to the tournament.
The Championship will have Camrose (NCHL), Lacombe (Wildcard) and Fort Saskatchewan (Host) from the NCHL, and Wainwright from the Saskalta League. The North Peace Hockey League did not operate this season.”

My understanding from the hop was Inny was a AAA team playing AA to have regular games. From the beginning (and stated in a Ranchland post), they were to only compete in the regular season, and then let the remaining teams play out the playoffs between themselves at the AA level. While this was to happen, Inny would compete against any remaining AAA teams if applicable. So not sure where it went wrong in terms of their standing as a AA/AAA team, I can't comment on that, but I know the above to be correct and accurate otherwise.
Hope this helps.

Hello from Dundas. Yes the tentative start is Friday Jan 7. As long as Covid doesn’t ramp up and restrictions aren’t put back in place, the thinking in town is yes there will be a 4 team league this year. But that is the ACH league, not the actual Allan Cup tournament. The rest of the country will need to show interest and/or have teams declared AAA Newfoundland will have a league but will not send a representative. There are likely one or possibly two teams in Alberta. Would also need the usual suspects in Manitoba and New Brunswick to confirm that they will send teams. If it all comes together, the thinking is Dundas and Hamilton would co host the Cup in April A lot of “ifs” to make it happen. Innisfail was a yes from what I read. They are playing in the Ranchland Hockey League this year but are not participating in the playoffs. That’s correct. And they’re absolutely walking teams.

Alberta has opened their seasons for AA. No AAA league for this year.
Innisfail is playing in the Ranchland league, AA, but is said to have committed to registering for AAA this year. Stony is the only other AAA team active and currently has no league.
Many of the players from Stony and other AAA teams have jumped on Innisfail and are playing this year.

The key that I feel kinda ties into our SR AAA situation is that these BC JR to teams have been abiding by rules that they felt are outdated & no longer suitable for what they’re trying to do. They tried to get an ear ...and how much they were listened to...Idunno. But I’m not surprised they’ve gone maverick and I’m not gonna be surprised if other situations similar to this happen down the road Agreed fully. Time will tell.

One thing is sure, since they do produce an insane amount of NCAA players, they’ll have to see how the split may impact their standing as an amateur league should anything change with their status.

Honestly, I’m kind of excited for this. Could open up a whole new Jr level system since it’s one, possibly two, of the top tiered Tier II leagues leaving.
I think this is a kick in the pants to HC and in the right direction.

The SaskAlta and most Saskatchewan leagues are playing. Are there provincial playoffs though No too sure to be completely honest. But it seems like there's some Alberta players playing in the Sask leagues as well. Was cruising through the stats and saw Adam Huxley's name pop up as well as some other former AAA players from Alberta. It's a shame with everything going on that the season's are hooped!

Super disappointing seeing the AAA league shut down essentially after Lacombe and Rosetown dropped out.
The Senior AA circuit isn’t strong enough province wide to bring back a complete AAA league like of years past, but if some of them joined forces, there’d be some competitive teams for certain.
It gives the province time to consider how it should work. Would love to see teams in Southern & Northern Alberta come into the fold, not just central like it currently is.
Could be interesting!
