It is amazing, especially since I was berated for suggesting that a team playing together was the only possible measure of success...Injuries, etc were unimportant as long as you have 28 guys who played together all ear. That's not even remotely close to what my argument was. I said: Dundas missing 4 players all year would not be a good reason for them to lose a series against Kenora because Kenora hadn't played any games...at all...prior to that series. SEPT beat Bentley in the 7th game they played. They had several players who'd played all year at the SR AA level & they obviously had a situation that worked perfectly for them. Would I...personally...rather have SEPT's schedule as opposed to Bentley's? Hell no. I'd rather play games. I'd rather grow all year through adversity & spending time...as a team...together. Even in lite of the undeniable fact The Army lost that game to SEPT...I'd still take our situation over theirs 10 out of 10 times. SEPT played a smart, strategic tournament and it paid dividends. I give them credit for that...but...I do not think the way they operate their team is the "best" way to win an Allan Cup.

Probably not a good idea on my part, trying to get a "read" on Marv w/o ever having spoke with the man.
Any-hoo...like I said...I'd rather see the teams playing all the games win the championship.
I won't go back and re-question all the things I've discussed a billon times over and over...I just get a empty feeling seeing a team that met last week walk out the door with the trophy.

Scary thought is SEPT just showed everyone HOW to win w/o playing together and it's a very easy, one word plan: Trap.
Nobody needs a PHD or practice time to play a trap. It consists of staring down the other end of the rink & winning faceoffs.
Christie was the best puck handler on the ice yesterday. One little annoyance...I am a big believer in attacking a goalie out of his net handling the puck. I've always said u gotta STOP right on top of him if he's still handling the puck when u arrive on the forecheck. We didn't do that. We had 9-10 "fly-bys" which gave him a freedom to dangle & it killed our forecheck & possesion time.

It's just really sad that Manitoba doesn't have any SR AAA hockey...other than...the best team in the country.
It is a sad & empty moment when the team doing the least amount of work...wins the biggest championship in Canada.
I'm not complaining about the rules being unfair. I'm not even looking at that part of it because I already know...as someone else said...the "want" just isn't there for Manitoba.
But...if the "want" isn't there...I was hoping the win wouldn't be there for them either.
SEPT has 2 Allan Cups...maybe 3 by this time next year...and yet they don't even exist other than for one week a year.
Makes me feel robbed.
They played a low key style of hockey...killed ever penalty they took this week and The Army couldn't solve them. It sucks the life right out my eyes to see it end this way.

At the end of the day...The Army gets one game to deliver justice and we tried...but...we couldn't quite figure out the chess match in what was...let's be honest...a boring & flowless hockey game.
I actually felt bored. Me. The lunatic from Bentley...but...sometimes...that's how big games are won or lost.
I know a couple people from SEPT. Good people who will deservedly enjoy the championship.
I recognize Marv Kornelsen...I assume he's also "good people". I can't fault him for taking what the situation gives him. Gotta wonder where the hunger comes from though? I saw him prior to the Final and he was wandering around the lobby like a janitor. No emotion. No investment. No passion. Honesty...if he wasn't wearing a SEPT jacket I would have been surprised if he didn't scalp a ticket & walk out the door.
Just my 2 sense.
And then there is the other team...with the GM who is already working on next year. The 100+ Army who made the trip with the team they LOVE...the players & familIes & the 1000000's of miles......all nipped I the ass in a couple of sluggish periods of hockey.
It's a HARD reality.
But...we did accomplish some incredible things. The win over Clarenville was an all-time huge effort. The OT win over GFW wS equally unreal.
We came up short in the end...but...I'd rather go a million miles and come up short than go twenty feet and pretend to stand tall.

If" look at me " Kostick does the game it's sure to be a shit show The Ontario and PEI ref's should work the final they both have enough experience to let them play and let the players decide it. Should be a great final I hope the building is Rocking its a great Sr. AAA ventue. They did a great job on the event and should be very proud Don Robertson They're calling it. Just confirmed.

I haven't seen a game where there weren't lots of PIMs.
Doesn't matter who calls the game. The results have been the same.

The Gens' took a lot of PIMs yesterday against GFW.
I'm predicting Kostick, the Ontario guy, will be one of the Refs. No idea who he will work with...but...hopefully they let these teams play 5 on 5.
If the whistles aren't busy...The Gens will be able to shut down SEPT's scoring spree.
If we end up with a bunch of special teams play...who knows...it's anyone's game then, IMO

Both Newfoundland teams were in deep trouble as soon as they were bumped into quarter-final games.
It is extremely tough to pull off consecutive wins on consecutive days against more rested opposition.
I'm not saying SEPT & Bentley don't both deserve to be in The Final.. I'm just sayin...the key games for both finalists were early round robin wins.
Mind you...everyone came here for one thing. Obviously the key game is still to come.

Say what you want about the shit that's gone on...Newfoundland fans have NO share of the blame...they're excellent people, excellent hockey fans and I salute them. Much respect.

The Army can handle GFW but they have to stay out of the box.
The Cats' have used 27 PP chances in 3 games to run their top 2 lines right down the opposition throats.
Not sure who is calling today's game...but...we can't take 7 or 8 minors. We have NO CHANCE if we spend that much time in the box.

SEPT has the bye...but...this is no normal bye, bys'.
The Thunder basically have 24HRS to prepare for the biggest challenge put in front of them since Brian Sutters' 2009 Gens' were in Steinbach.
Let's be honest here...the HOST are heavily favoured.

Dundas did all they could. The defending champs were not anywhere near the depth of a couple other teams...but...they truly displayed all the heart anyone could ever ask of a hockey team. Be proud, Ontario.

If Dalmao is there for the McCoys that would be a boost for their defense. I believe he might be 1 of the 2 coming in, yes.

Yep.
Still a decent chance of an All-Rock Final.
I think...both NFLD teams are heavily favoured tomorrow in the quarters'.
But...worth noting...Dundas had a day off today, they're getting a couple more bodies tomorrow and they have Mike Mole.
Lameque isn't a push-over for GFW...but...I think the Cats will get a big game from their big line.
