the number of AAA teams should be double that or atleast 10.. You have all these ex pro's and millions of ppl.. But on the other hand this great dundas team you guys are talking about couldn't even fill that little rink for the Allan cup final

Attendance is a point for another discussion. There are too many teams in S Ont at every level of hockey. Too many options. Dundas has a super fan base but it's not extended enough. This is why Senior hockey has growing to do if they want to be mentioned in the same breath as Major Junior.
To me the Allan Cup and Memorial Cup both have great histories. Junior hockey, likely because of Hockey Canada and TSN of course has grown at a much faster pace than Senior. Senior has regressed, as Don Robertson said, down to 17 teams.
But back to this topic - impossible to compare year to year. McCoys were as strong as you'll see though. St. Georges back in 2004 would be the other that comes to mind for dominating the opposition.
Dundas dominated in every game except against the team with 9 AP'S. Chew on that.

And one year prior, the Generals dominated every team, including the team with 9 APs.
I'd ask you to chew on that.
Except that it's so well blended its puréed...for your mind to digest with ease & certainty.

senior hockey will never be mentioned in the same breath or level as major junior.. Compare the two young up and coming future NHL stars or old slow washed up hockey players..

MY "GUESS" WOULD BE THAT DUNDAS THIS YEAR WAS BETTER THAN BENTLEY LAST YEAR. LAST YEAR BENTLEY, AS STATED BY WADE "DOMINATED" BUT ONLY HAD TO PLAY 3 TEAMS INCLUDING LOWLY KENORA TWICE. AND ONLY WON 3-2 IN THE SEMI AGAINST THEM. A BOUNCE OR 2 FROM NOT EVEN MAKING THE FINAL! BUT WHO CARES AS BOTH TEAMS WON IT ALL! ONLY 300 AND SOME DAYS UNTIL NFLD!

Don't know if i would call this year's version of the Real McCoys the "best ever". In a nutshell...they really elevated their game at this year's Allan...no doubt about that. Secondly, they deserved to win. However...it is a good thing for them that they didn't have to play the Blast as i feel the Blast really know how to play Dundas in their own barn.

The 2013 Champions allowed 96 SOG during their tournament.
The 2014 Champions allowed 138 SOG and gave up more GA despite having a higher SV%.
The defensive side of the 2013 Generals was very impressive. I'll go through he archives to check & see if ANY teams can compare to those numbers.
The 2014 McCoys sure don't.

Since the Allan Cup went to a tournament format...or..."The Modern Era"...if you will:
Only 2 teams have been able to post Shut Outs in a Championship Final... 2013 Bentley Generals (3-0 over Newfoundland) 2004 Garaga (5-0 over Ministikwin Islanders)
The 2013 Generals are the only tournament era team to post 2 shut outs in the same tournament.
The 2013 Bentley Generals set the tournament era record for GAA (1.00)

Cleaning something up from a few posts ago...
The Dundas player I was referring to from the 2008 tourney was Kenny Sutton.

Apples to apples sir Bentley played Kenora twice. in talking to a member of their squad in Dundas, this year's Kenora team was stronger than last year. Dundas shut them out 4-0 wade. And Nfld was a much better and deeper club in 2014. Their AP's including Hulit were far stronger.

Yes I know he did. Just saying our Nfld group was much stronger this year. The D was awesome compared to last year. Hulit played great in 2014 with Campbell eh all But they didn't have Sweetland for most of the Final. We can go back & forth forever trying to compare bits & pieces of each game. I think there is plenty of merit in looking at how each Champion performed in the Final game...when the hardware is within a stick length, the best possible opponent is faced off against them & the toll of the entire week is factoring in. When the 2013 Bentley Generals were given 60 minutes to define themselves for eternity....folks...they played a PERFECT hockey game. That's it. One word. One identity. Perfection. The 2014 McCoys played an exciting, back & forth game..which required extra time to decide. Did Dundas faceoff against a better opponent? Maybe. But at that point in the tournament...a truly "all time great" is going to step up & handle whomever comes at them, so efficiently & so focused & so completely...the opponent will not matter. The 2013 Army would have shut down Godzilla on their day of infamy. They were that good.

Wade I have great respect for the Army and enjoy the people who run the organization and share a number of views on our game at this level as we try and make it better. The who is best can never be determined ever cause we can't play each other and we all know it, that said as you know I was in Red Deer last year and knew we had to beat a team like Bentley big, strong tough could skate if we wanted to win this year. The Bentley guys said the level this year was as good as they have seen and I agree, that said we can't let this thing get to good or it will eliminate others as they'll send up the white flag locally like back in the 80's when it almost became a regional event. It has been by many the Tuesday night game against Bentley way well have been the best Sr game played in the Building which opened in 1950, it was clearly the most physical I have ever seen there ( and refereed in the late 70 and early 80's when it was nuts on the ice ) . The game at this level isn't broken but can be made better and with luck the operators will prevail and make it better for all the guys who care and offer up an opinion on this board and who pay to watch us at this level . Regards Don Robertson
