One name jumps out above the rest right now: Rosetown Red Wings.
A long time success story in Saskatchewan's SR network....there is no doubt they had a 'AAA' framework in place last season.
And with the extra incentive of being in the 'host province' for 2012...I am 98.9% certain Rosetown will take the jump this winter.
Saskatchewan has a massive resevoir of SR hockey teams. Matter of fact....its 1 of only 2 branches in Canada able to boast the full gamut of Provincial tier(s) from LBK (AAA) all the way down the food chain to 'D' level. I believe Manitoba also has multiple tiers.
This means the 'WEST Region' could become suddenly convoluted...depending on how many pods are ready to test Allan Cup waters with the new affiliation rules really throwing the doors wide open.
We won't know for sure until deadline day...but...keep in mind...it could be a very long time until Saskatchewan gets another chance to HOST an AC Tournament. Hell...it could be the LAST time...one never knows! Therefore...I believe we'll see some buzz in Saskatchewan this winter. Rosetown & LBK will both be strong.
It doesn't look quite as active in Alberta. The suffocating dominance of the Bentley Generals has become a tough act to follow. I would conservatively predict the possibility of (MAYBE) one more SR AAA team in Alberta for the 2013 season...but...no changes for 2012.
There have beeb constant whispers about Horse Lake returning to 'AAA' action in Alberta...but...they're having a helluva time erasing all the bad blood from 2005...and now...even when following in line with a disgustingly biased dictatorship under the NPHLs' governing body the last couple years....they still can't win over any support/leverage to make a go of it.
Unfortunatley for the Dawson Creek Canucks...I think they're also a victim of the NPHL (whether they realize it or not). This league has a long, winding tradition of staying true to itself (abeit in many different forms) and they have a 'COMPLEX' with the idea of competing for ANYTHING BUT the NPHL Title.
Thats ALMOST all I got for you at this time...but...lastly...it is sounding VERY MUCH like Quebec has thrown the proverbial stick into the pile for next season.
I have no idea what Quebec's Allan Cup contingent will (exactly)be composed of...but what I DO know is...they have a history of either going first class or not going at all.

I hope Quebec is back in the fold again... Sure. Provided they're open to buying into the majority rules....as opposed to the rules the Newfies follow.

Also hearing from a couple sources that Balgonie (SK) could become a 3rd SK 'AAA' team this season.

I am working on confirmation of Horse Lake having posted the bond to be in the 'AAA' mix for this season.

I would love to see Quebec back in the fold at the AC. They have had their problems at past AC discipline wise but if they come with the right frame of mine it would be great to see.

Sounds like Horse Lake posted the 'AAA' bond. That means the field for 'SR AAA' in Alberta will be 5 teams deep. Quebecs' return is a sight for sore eyes. I ASSUME they've been able to resurrect a variation of the GREAT league(s) they had out there up until a few years ago. My utopian hope...would be for Atlantic Canada to NOW have to play a series with Quebec in order to qualify for the AC Tournament. The Allan Cup needs to retain a consistent structure year<>year AND feature ONLY participants with CURERENT Reigonal Championship Titles at the Tournament. Its maybe not possible to have both those things happen as early as THIS spring....but....WOW...it would be fantastic if it all came together for the 2013 tournament here in Armyville.
