wade, the stats don't tell the whole story. There was a whole bunch of games where Dundas was short skaters and there defence was so thin all year, Mole didn't have a chance and the numbers are not a true representation of his body of work this season, you should know better Wade. Mole absolutely stole games for Dundas more than a few times this season, especially earlier on, it was incredible. Look at how any shots he had in some of the games.
their strength of schedule was very high as well which certainly plays into this as well. their defence is way better, but they wouldn't be up 3-0 in this series without mole
Wade, there were 3 different teams in the ach that had the talent to win the allan cup, i'd say there was only 1 in chinook, if you throw norwood out i'd be surprised if top 4 in chinook would do well against top 4 in ach

Just stop. Please.
The last 2 Allan Cups...before Dundas hosted...ACH never even qualified a team for the 2013 or 2012 tournament. Dundas sent a practical joke to the 2011 tournament and they were out in the quarter finals of the 2010 tournament.
Go all the way back to mid-2000's...how often has a southern Ontario team even been a factor in ANY AC tournament? Twice? Maybe? As for last year...they had 2 teams basically handed a spot in the tournament...HOSTING...and Brantford...the best team in that league was eliminated by yours truly, in the quarter finals. Again!
Don't get me wrong...I am not saying the league is terrible or anything at all like that. I'm just sayin...please...stop with the hyper-presumptive, arrogant sense of superiority.
Your telling the entire country that some guy who hasn't played pro in 5-6 years + had a sub .900 SV% and a GAA of almost fricking 6.00 is the best goalie in Canada...
Get real. Can any ACH fans even name 2 goalies NOT playing in the ACH?

Looks like my post has morphed into a few different subjects which is fine. I'll jump in. Wade, I posted a few times last year that I love your passion. Need more Senior A fans like yourself. However, sometimes that passion is "too" passionate and your statements tend to be, well, not thought out, with all due respect.
First off, the post saying Mole is the best goalie in Senior is similar to your passionate statements Wade. Its hard to compare goalies from different leagues. But I will say Mole was the BEST tender in the Allan Cup. And I will also agree he is the best goalie in Ontario-forget the stats...as someone posted Dundas had many games with only 12 skaters-many who are no longer with the team. And he is stealing the Dunlops series.
But to say the Chinook league is superior- very hard to back that up when one team has only lost 8 games of their last 72 league games (Just looked that up - and agree it's too bad the league is so one-sided. Can't be good in anyway you spin it).
That couldn't and wouldn't happen in Ontario.
I will rate Dundas, Brantford, Whitby and Stoney Creek as very even and superior teams. Two of these teams proved that they were equal or better (see Dundas 6 Bentley 2 last year) to Bentley.
If Bentley plays in Ontario, they do NOT 100%, and you can bet the mortgage on this, win 90 percent of their games...as they do in the Chinook. Does this make the ACH a better overall league - my answer is yes.
Even you have to admit that Wade.

Wade - everyone should admire your passion even if biased.
AC 2008 you still were adamant that Bentley was superior to Brantford despite getting beat both times they played each other that year. Not to mention, Brantford and Dundas had one of the most thrilling games I've ever saw in the semis. Too bad they didn't meet each other last year in the AC.

So...on one hand your saying Dundas was awful this year...barely icing a team most nights...and on the other hand...your saying Bentley wouldn't dominate ACH league the way they do in the CHL.
Whitby was the best regular season team. Right. And who was their best player? Peter Mackeller? Ya. He's 40-ish right? He was good in the 2007 tournament. That's approaching a decade ago.
The top players in the Chinook League are much younger. But they still come with the pro pedigree. And teams in the CHL actually practice. With full equipment. Every week.
I guess when your from Ontario though...you don't even need to practice or train. Your just born naturally awesome and the fatter & older you get the better you are. Like Mike Kennedy did for so long.
Come on.
. ACH teams get beat by Kenora. Before they even qualify for the tournament. Or...they get beat by several different teams in those rare instances where they qualify for the AC.
Last year...a host year for them...was an exception to the rule. Sort of. Brantford still got eliminated.
Back on topic...Mike Mole was the best in the tournament last year. Not by a wide margin...but...I'll admit he was the best. Churchill (who should probably be a name in the discussion of Best in Canada) was not far behind.
And I can't argue against the notion he's still the best in ACH despite his laffable stats. Although...it's also needing to be noted his SV% was only middle of the pack. Even if we're throwing GAA out the window.
So...he's the best goalie in a league. A good league.
Not the best league in Canada. Nope. There isn't one good reason to say the ACH is the best league in Canada.
Not when teams from the league rarely factor into AC Championships. Or even Inter-Prov games. And they NEVER play exy's' against anyone outside their league. God forbid they lose those games, too.

Share with us why you didn't get the Brantford/Dundas final in 14' Sniper? As for 2008...I maintain the Generals roster was as good as any in that tournament. There was lots of NHL pedigree in Brantford that year and The Army had as much or more than anyone. Brantford outplayed Bentley in the final. Not sure...going off memory..but I believe we outshot them both times we played them. Doesn't matter. All I'm saying about 08' is Bentleys' roster was as good as anyone their. That team was inconsistent that year...but...when they were "on" they could be dynamite. Showed it a couple times in Brantford, knocking off the defending AC champs + the top team in Quebec. Sorry...I'm just not terrified of Ontario teams the way some people think I should be. I respect them. But they're rarely as "unbeatable" as some might like to believe.

one thing I can tell you Wade, is last season the ACH was stacked with 3 outstanding teams, that certainly were 3 of the best 5 teams in all of Canada.
All three teams are less talented and less experienced, especially Dundas and then Brantford to a lesser extent. Whitby lost their top scorer. Giving it more thought it is certainly possible chinook is superior this year, but certainly not last year. You've been following longer so i'll trust your judgement that historically chinook is better.
I'd love to see how good Moles numbers would have been in a generals jersey all year, You would have loved it Wade, when he is on, he takes over game and dominates. There are great goalies across the country playing senior, If only one is slightly best, over the last year...I'm not hesitating on where i'm putting my money and if Wade saw him , i think he could even convince him too

While communicating with Army brass during AC2014, they expressed how impressed they were with the level of talent in the tournament field.
They felt the Gens were the "least skilled" of the 6 teams in Dundas.
It surprised me...but...it shouldn't have. Naturally ACH teams would be stacked in a year where they're hosting the tournament. That's the way it was in 2008 and that's the way it SHOULD BE each time that kind of opportunity comes around.
I think...in 2013...The Chinook League was cheated by their own opportunity to showcase this league. Fort Sask could have emerged as the 2nd best team in Canada that year. They were the ONLY team in Canada to give the 2013 Army any real kind of trouble. Somehow...they blew a 3-0 series lead against Stony Plain and therefore it was Stony Plain coming to Red Deer as the Alberta Bridesmaid.
The Eagles had a few solid players. Justin Cox was/is among the most gifted & fastest forwards in the tournament. But they didn't have near enough to make an impact in a tournament format and they really weren't nearly as good as Fort Sask. I suppose outsiders might draw some conclusions on the CHL from this.
Since then...nobody in the CHL has been able to make any kind of impressionable dent in the armour of Canadas' premiere SR AAA franchise. The ONLY time The Army has played 2nd fiddle to ANYONE...was in Dundas.
They lost to AC host team, a Manitoba All Star team and a Newfoundland All Star team. Each of these 3 vanquishers had some heavy leverage working in their favour. Especially Dundas & Clarenville.
Can Clarenville handle the Gens without the aid of AP's? I gotta insist not.
Can Dundas produce that same type of team w/o having HOST clout? Obviously not.
The persuasion is...maybe it's not out of the realm of reason that the CHL isn't the only dynamic unable to truly get eye to eye with The Army?
Maybe...unless your an Allan Cup HOST...or...Provincial All Star team...the chances your going to get a good, sound ass-kicking are high?
Teams in the CHL are BETTER from having to compete...week in & week out against Bentley.
Would Innisfail Eagles have a former Jack Adams Award winning coach leading that team had that same coach not first been working with Bentley for 5 years? Nope. What's fallen off the branches on the giant oak...has seeded a formidable forest around it, folks.
Don't kid yourselves. The CHL is a tough, talented league with serious commitment & competition.

The Allan Cup should be contested by Amateurs, not players that have played Pro-Hockey, Minor-Pro or in Europe. The true origin of the Allan Cup should be revisited, a cup that was donated for amateur teams to vie for...Not semi-professional teams.
Eligible teams should be only those that DO Not have any current or former Pro or Minor-Pro or European experience. This would give the Allan Cup back to those smaller towns who then would be able to assemble teams, which would generate more interest across the country. No All-Star Teams need apply.
Last but not least, lets get the Best in the West to play the Best in the East for the Allan Cup.

If you chose to read the Prime Ministers book you'll know that former Pro's have always been a part of the Allan Cup, much to the chagrin of John Ross Robertson. I understand there is North Amerciacn Championship for armatures it's done by an elimination process of Rec Hockey Leagues. I understand your position but would ask why guys who have played Jr. locally and moved on through the ranks to play Pro should be excluded from playing Sr. in or close to their home town with guys they maybe haven't played with since they where kids . I do agree the West and East should playoff for the Allan Cup and that should be determined by winners of League Championships Don Robertson

I can see where the current format generates interest at this time of the year... But I can also see how the vast majority don't really care about the Allan Cup anymore!!! There are no teams in B.C., one All-Star team from each of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and one from Thunder Bay from the West.
Most provinces have either league championships and/or provincials, perhaps its time to look at how these leagues in those provinces or regions can vie for something meaningful.
The history of players of pro or minor-pro experience in the Allan Cup may have been a problem from the get-go, but there must be a way to level out the playing field, so that teams can compete without selling out the farm!!!
That is all I am saying... A good topic for discussion by itself.

Mr wade. McCoys beat Bentley 6-2. Brantford lost by one goal to them last year. This season the Blast are vastly improved as is Stoney and Whitby.
Give me a break. Are you real saying that your team would go 23-1 in ONT as they do out there. The
Not a chance in hell that happens. Puts an end to your stupid comment that the Alberta league is better.

I'm gonna call BullShit on that one, bud. I don't believe ANY teams in the ACH are "vastly improved"' from last year. I'm seeing mostly the same names as last year...and these players are Mostly comparable level to what the majority of the CHL is. Let's be honest...this is all nothing more than a pissing match and I'm bored with it. The ACH Champ...whomever that might be...NEEDS to accomplish something outside of Ontario. Please...at least qualify for an Allan Cup before you start tooting the horns like this.
